Xbox one download speed slow10/26/2022 ![]() ![]()
Maybe the Xbox OS changed from speed-testing through a DNS-determined server closest to our physical location, to a randomized server (which would account for wildly varying test results) or simply to a dedicated server which happens to be far away from where many of us on this thread live (like Redmond, WA?) Then again, it could be possible that the server MS uses for the Xbox Speed Test has changed - I know testing on a PC through various servers on can show a crazy variance in test results, depending on server location. I wonder if the servers the Xbox OS uses for speedtests are incorrectly configured, or just not playing nicely with IPv6? I used to only be showing "Wired," but now it says "IPv4 & IPv6" with a correct IPv6 address in my advanced settings page - it was about the same time I noticed THIS that I noticed my speedtests were uncommonly low. I have been getting IPv6 addresses for a long time from my ISP, but only recently did my Xbox start showing it correctly. So, one speedtest through Edge shows what I should be getting, but the one through the OS shows bizarrely low. #Xbox one download speed slow Pc#Oddly, if I use the /speedtest on my PC in Edge, then on my Xbox in Edge, they BOTH show results in the 230s down, but if I immediately switch to the Xbox's built-in speedtest, my numbers are as listed above. I'm now on a 200 Mbps down, 20 up plan which tests at 230+ down on my PC, but on my Xbox, the speed tests have not improved. Ask Guru Kronos on the forums, I'm sure he gets tired of seeing my name! □ I've been working on it with Support (posts on forums and Twitter.) I'm an Ambassador on the early access program, so I try hard to troubleshoot these things (and am a bit obsessive over it, so I don't usually quit until it's solved. If I watch my download speed as a game is installing, it'll hover in the 40-50 range, occasionally spike in the 70s, and sometimes drop into the teens or single digits. Late November/early December it dropped significantly into the 30s-40s down. ![]() I'm on Comcast and consistently used to get 180 down 10-12 up on my 150 Mbps plan. Thanks, ganks - just an FYI, this is NOT just an AT&T issue. I wonder if someone with the AT&T gigapower service has an XB1 S they could test with. The tech said the XB1 can't handle the gigabit speed, at this point I think he is correct. I am now going to consintrate only on trying to get the best speeds for both mutiplayer and downloading on the XB1. So it is now proven that my service is running very smooth and as it should. They ran the site and got 930+ down and up each time. #Xbox one download speed slow software#So while they were here, they used their own windows laptop that was a bare bones laptop with nothing running on it and even had mcafee and any firewall software disabled. I had re-scheduled the AT&T tech for next week since I was going to do all of this testing but they showed up anyways. NOTE: With the speedtest app we got a 10 out of 10 getting 935+ down and up. It seemed the safari browser however always got around 200 mb less then crome and the speed test app. #Xbox one download speed slow mac#(My mac can't handle the new gigabit speed unless I use the speedtest app). The results were that with all 3 we got speeds into the 800-900 for both upload and download. We tested using the crome browser, the safari browser and the speed test app downloaded from the apple store. I had a friend brought over his new apple laptop so I could run speed tests on equiement I knew was up to par with gigabit speeds. ![]()
